GAVAN'S STORY

Son. Brother. Friend. Follower of Jesus
Gavan lived his 16 years with a heart for people and a faith that shaped the way he treated them. He truly never met a stranger. Whether he had known someone for years or had just met them, Gavan could strike up a conversation, make them laugh, and somehow leave them feeling like they mattered. He was talkative, funny, full of personality, and always willing to lend a hand. But beneath that larger-than-life personality was a young man who genuinely cared about people and loved lifting others up.
Gavan's faith in Jesus was an important part of who he was. He understood that faith wasn't simply something you talked about—it was something you lived. Through his kindness, his willingness to help, and the way he connected with people, Gavan showed a light that reached far beyond what he probably ever realized. His life reminds us that we don't have to do extraordinary things to make an extraordinary difference. Sometimes it begins with noticing someone, encouraging them, making them smile, or simply choosing to be kind.
Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
Gavan's time here was far too short, but the light he shared was not. It lives on in his family, his friends, his teammates, his community, and every person who chooses to carry that same kindness forward. That is what it means to us to Live Like Gavan: love people, lift others, walk in faith, and use the life God has given you to leave this world a little better than you found it.

This is Gavan. A Life Full of Light
His Faith — Gavan's faith in Jesus was an important part of the young man he became. He was saved at Barnett Independent Church and later publicly professed that faith through baptism. His relationship with Christ wasn't simply something he talked about—it could be seen in the way he cared for people, encouraged others, and was willing to lend a hand. Gavan's faith continues to be a source of comfort and hope to those who love him, knowing that his story did not end with his time on this earth.
His Family — Gavan was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and so much more to the family who loved him. He loved his younger brother Gabe dearly, and the bond they shared as brothers will always be a treasured part of his story. Above everything else, Gavan was deeply loved by his family, and words could never express how truly and deeply he is missed. His absence is felt every day, but we find comfort in knowing that the love we shared is eternal and that, through our faith in Jesus, goodbye is not forever.
His Personality — Gavan was the kind of person who truly never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and his outgoing personality, sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh naturally drew others to him. Whether he was joking around with classmates, talking with friends, or simply making sure someone felt included, Gavan had a way of making the people around him feel seen and valued.
His Friends — There was only one Gavan. His friends didn't just know him for the things he said or the laughs they shared; they knew him for the way he made people feel. He was a friend who showed up, a voice of encouragement, and a light in the lives of those around him. The friendships he built and the memories they made together are a lasting part of his story and will be carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to call him a friend. He was truly one of a kind.
